With support from the Executive Office of the Mayor, Office on Latino Affairs, the Multicultural Community Service will host an informative and instructional breakfast and luncheon for community interpreters to share valuable experiences and professional challenges and learn about current practices in the field in the Washington, DC area.

Invited speakers will include community leaders such as honorable council members Jim Graham and Yvette Alexander.  The Director of Language Access for the District of Columbia, Aryan Rodriguez and the Director of the office of Latino Affairs, Mercedes Lemp, will be present among other distinguished community leaders.

Topics covered in the informational session will include:

  • Information on the legal interpreting profession
  • Important case study data on how to avoid mental fatigue and improve overall interpretation skills
  • Current work trends in the field and the challenges posed by the current economic climate
  • Techniques for improving note-taking skills.
