DC Public School Directory 2009-- The District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) maintains this directory of elementary, middle, and high schools every year.  It includes information about the school's location, principal, grade configuration, cluster, and ward.

DCPS Schools by Ward -- This list shows what city ward each public school pertains to.

 

Supplemental Education Services Approved Providers Directory 2009 -- The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) releases this directory of approved supplemental education service providers every year. In accordance with the No child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), local education agencies must ensure that students from low-income families who are attending Title 1 schools are in their second year of school improvement (have not made AYP for 3 or more years), in corrective action, or in restructuring status are eligible to receive these services.

 

DC Adult Literacy Directory --The DC Public Library Adult Literacy Resource Center develops this directory of adult literacy programs and services in the District of Columbia.  Programs and centers listed offer classes or tutoring to help adults improve their skills.

 

DC Public Charter School Directory -- The DC Public Charter School Board maintains this list of public charter schools in the District of Columbia with contact information, speciality, and grade level for each school.

 

Directory of DC Ward 1 Latino Social Service Agencies -- The Latino Federation of Greater Washington maintains this directory of social service agencies that includes contact information and a description of the services and resources offered by each agency.

 

Autism Classrooms -- Children who are diagnosed on the autism spectrum may benefit from a more structured setting.  In the Autism Classroom, children will be able to focus on academics as well as social skills through structured play and/or role play with the help of teachers and aides.  The autism classrooms are based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.

 

Full Service Model Schools -- Full Service Model Schools provide extended social, behavioral, and academic supports for students. This includes positive behavior supports, interventions, and enhanced staffing to support the behavior management and mental health needs of at-risk students. Full Service schools also include facilitated outrach to families.

 

SAM Schools -- The Schoolwide Application Model (SAM) serves the needs of all learners - with and without  identified special needs - in an inclusive setting.  SAM redistributes special education resources into the general education classroom so that all students are able to benefit from the specialized instruction and services.

 

Wilson Reading -- The Wilson Reading System is a research-based reading program appropriate for students in grades 2-12 who have difficulty with reading (decoding) and spelling (encoding).  The Wilson Reading System uses a multisensory technique initially designed for older individuals with dyslexia.  The following schools currently have teachers that have been trained in this method.
