Our Legacy in Advancing Language Access

MCS is proud to have played a foundational role in advancing language access and equity in Washington, D.C. In 2004, during the signing of the DC Language Access Law by Mayor Williams, Lillian Perdomo, then Executive Director and Co-Founder of MCS, stood among key leaders supporting this landmark legislation.

She is pictured alongside Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham, reflecting the collaborative leadership that helped bring this effort to fruition.

MCS was also a co-founder of the Language Access Coalition, a critical body that was formally recognized within the legislation and continues to play an essential role in ensuring the law’s implementation and impact. This moment reflects MCS’s long-standing commitment to advocacy, inclusion, and equitable access for all communities.
